Job Summary:
Provides effective outreach, delivery, and evaluation of sexuality education programs to specific community groups and organizations, prioritizing LGBTQ+ and BIPOC young people.
Essential Functions:
Delivers high-quality, medically accurate, culturally responsive education programs to various community groups. Facilitates professional training, HIV education, and youth leadership programming that increases access to sex education for people in North Mississippi. Customizes or develops lesson plans and curricula when appropriate. Maintains fidelity and implements evidence-based programs (EBP) where required. Conducts outreach to expand services in designated service areas and assists community organizations in selecting and delivering appropriate programs.
Community Outreach Health Educator Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, medically accurate, culturally responsive education programs on sexuality, reproductive health, and Planned Parenthood services to people in the community.
Build and maintain authentic and reciprocal relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and others invested in young people, with a priority placed on BIPOC and LGBTQ youth populations.
Represent Planned Parenthood at community gatherings.
Assist with the development of the Tennessee and Mississippi Youth Advisory Board peer education through the facilitation of youth leadership and/or peer education programming for youth in north Mississippi. Responsibilities may include establishing relationships with youth; recruiting youth; monthly meetings (often during evenings or weekends) with youth; facilitating education sessions and community-based impact projects in partnership with youth; providing support and recognition to youth; planning, tracking, and completing program evaluation activities, etc.
Coordinate the regional distribution of condoms to community partners, ensuring timely and efficient delivery. Maintain accurate records of condom inventory levels and track distribution to various partners.
When appropriate, customize lesson plans and curricula or develop new lesson plans and curricula for outreach education and training efforts. Utilizes appropriate educational and technological methodologies and ensures cultural sensitivity.
Prepare and distribute educational and informational materials for education programs and respond to requests for materials.
Provides monthly reports of educational and outreach activities and other data and reporting requirements, as necessary.
Recruit and manage North Mississippi condom distribution volunteers.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing networks.
Completes administrative tasks, such as tracking program activities, completing data entry, scheduling, and communicating in a timely manner.

Knowledge of reproductive health and sexuality, HIV prevention preferred.

Education/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in health, education, counseling, or related area preferred.
Experience:
Two to three years of experience as an educator, trainer, and/or working with youth.
Sexual and reproductive health knowledge is required.
Experience with public speaking and health program facilitation preferred.
Experience with outreach, recruitment, and relationship building preferred.
Experience working in North Mississippi is strongly preferred.
License:
Ability to travel, primarily local travel is frequent and anticipated to average 20%.
Must have access to a car. Valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance are required.
